THE PHOENIX SOCIAL CLUB – Paphos, Cyprus
It's great that you'd like to join our Club. The membership secretary will deal with your application, but this will let you know the process and a little more about how to enjoy your membership.
To Apply: - Either download a form via the button above, or call in at the Club whenever the bar is open to pick up a membership form. Forms are kept in the plastic drawers located on the table to the right of the bar (the Events booking folders are on the same table). Complete the form (one for each person wishing to join) and give it, with the applicable membership fee (see below) to whoever is running the bar - don't leave until you get a receipt since the receipt will allow you to use the club, as a member, while you are waiting for your official membership card to be produced.
If the bar is busy you may have to wait for a few minutes to be seen to, so allow a bit of time - everyone in the club is a volunteer and often they are short handed but they get there eventually :-)
Your payment:- The amount new members pay is pro-rata - renewal being in June (current rate €48)- so check the list on the notice board, or ask first, exactly how much you need to pay. e.g. if you join in December you would only pay €28. Please note however that once you join, the annual fee of €48 applies irrespective of when you re-join - and you must resubmit a completed application form every year.
Opening times:- Regarding when the bar is open; have a look at the calendar on the website to confirm timings - especially over Christmas or during August - but usually the Club is open from 6pm on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday for various activities, also Friday lunch times for lunch & Bingo and for the monthly events of the Folk & Music nights, Film Nights & Karaoke - if you want to join in with any of the activities you'll be very welcome, but it's perfectly okay to just pop in to fill in the form too.
How to collect:- Once your membership application is processed, you can collect your membership card from the small holder at the left of the bar.
Once you are a member:- You will be automatically added to the Phoenix Club mailing list - emails are sent informing you of all upcoming activities and with AGM notices etc, however if you don't wish to receive any emails you can use the unsubscribe option (you'll find it at the bottom of every email you receive) anytime.
You are legally required to have your membership card (or prior to that, your receipt) with you any time you are in the Club.
Booking for most events is via the folders kept to the right of the bar - it just involves writing your name and meal choices in the folder. Payment is taken on the door as you arrive. For more expensive 'ticketed' events, tickets are purchased over the bar - if you opt out of the mailings then keep an eye on the notices and flyers in the Club to ensure you don't miss out.
